Annual Meeting White Mountain Milers

On The Run

The  White Mountain Milers Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, March 7, at  Tuckerman Brewery.  Over 50 people attended the meeting and all were or became members by the end of the evening.  Nicole Milewski, owner of the North Conway 7-11 was thanked for helping the Milers in purchasing $20 gift cards to be used for the Reward Cards Program. The idea is that Milers who place in the top three overall or in their age group in races will take a photo at the race wearing their White Mountain Miler Clothing and Race Bib and email the photo to Frank Holmes to collect their $20 7-11 Merchandise Card.  You can purchase your clothing at any Miler event or by contacting Frank Holmes.

Other news at the meeting was the new Feelin’ Good 5K Chili Cookoff, the White Mountain Miler Cranmore Hill Climb, and Buck for Bernie’s Kids, the election of Laura Holtby and Christine Smith to the Secretary Position vacated by myself, and the election of Ken Cargill to Club Legal Council, and Chris Perley stepping up to head up our Scholarship Committee.

Thank you and congratulations.

The evening concluded with the awarding of the coveted spots for the Mount Washington Road Race.  Fifteen Milers were present for the twenty spots and all had been rejected by the race and all fifteen received a spot. Twelve people, who were unable to attend the meeting. were represented by others and a lottery was held to distribute those spots.  Congratulations to all the White Mountain Milers for their hard work and good luck to the future runners to the top of the mountain.

The Milers were thanked by Kennett Coaches Bernie and Tim Livingston for money donated by the club to buy uniforms for the teams and for volunteering at the track and field meets each year. Seventy uniforms are on order for the boys teams and 70 have recently been purchased for the girls team and 36 for the middle school.

The next Kennett High meets are Tuesday April 25 and Tuesday May 9.  Contact Bernie at  or 603-447-6626, to volunteer.  Coach Bernie says the meets couldn’t happen without the help of our community.

New this year, on May 27, at 2 PM, the Division II Track and Field Meet will be held at KHS.  Volunteers are needed to help with the concession stand which should be a very profitable business for the Kennett Teams. There will be 23 schools in attendance and help is needed.  Contact Ellen Caputo to volunteer or 603-731-1009.

The 2nd to last Winter of 2017 Breakfast Runs was very well attended last Sunday.  People ran and walked anywhere from 3 to 10 miles to earn the delicious pot-luck breakfast and social time in the warm home of Steve and Cathy Dowling.  We heard rumours of a chocolate kiss eating contest but that didn’t happen.  Games were played and congratulations to Linda Stetson on her big win.  The next and final breakfast run of the year will be held on Sunday, April 2, again at the home of Steve and Cathy Dowling. This should be a blow out as many of our finest running chefs will be trying new recipes to finish off the season and your taste buds.

Don’t be late for your Sunday Run, turn your clocks forward tonight!
